Abstract

In November 2010 the Subcommittee for Postgraduate Education and Training (Medical) under the auspices of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) decreed that for registrars who commenced training on or after 1 January 2011, “Completion of a research component” is a requirement for registration as a specialist.1
